Discover the Advantages of Quest-Based Leveling
A lot of new players find that when they first get started the entire quest system appears to be a bit of a chore. After all, getting a quest and then being forced to run around to complete it before running back to claim your reward can be a bit tedious.
To top that off, leveling up initially is so easy that it is tempting to just run around killing mobs instead of actually bothering with any of the quests.
Unfortunately, while killing mobs (or 'grinding' as it is otherwise known) will definitely get you levels, in the long run you'll find that this method is slower than quest based leveling. Additionally, quest-based leveling offers a number of other advantages, and these could really make all the difference.
For starters, imagine this: Let's say you decide to kill 20 boars. That'd probably get you quite a bit of experience, which is great. But what if you could kill 20 boars as part of a quest and then get even more experience by turning in the quest itself?
Needless to say, you should be able to see that the second method (i.e. using quests) can help you get additional experience on top of what you would obtain anyway!
Furthermore, quests are a great source of equipment and gold. True - you'll get some equipment by killing mobs and getting loot from their corpses, but these are random chances and quests actually offer a guaranteed reward instead.
As you progress, you'll find that quests are arranged very nicely in World of Warcraft so that they 'lead' you from area to area throughout the world itself. Since areas normally only cater to a certain level range, if you don't do quests you could find that you won't know which area to move to once you're too high a level for the one you're in.
This could lead to a lot of aimless wandering around. Worse - you could actually end up going to an area that is dangerous for someone your level and end up dying!
Just to top all of this off, quests also are a source of reputation with various factions. As your reputation with certain factions increase, you'll be able to purchase additional items from their vendors, and maybe even access higher content that you'll definitely not want to miss out on!
End of the day, you should definitely get the picture by now: Quests are an integral part of the leveling system in World of Warcraft and you should use them to your own advantage if you want to quickly climb the ladder to level 80.
By adopting quest-based leveling, you'll find that leveling itself seems like less of a chore too - and it can actually be very enjoyable to go on adventures with groups of other players like yourself too!
